Diversity is the reality that we all face as our country becomes more complex, multifaceted, and rich in different ethnicities, religions, backgrounds, and ways of life. As educators and parents serving the most diverse generation of children and teens in the United States ever, how can we better provide them with the right materials to meet their needs?
This session is an opportunity to socialize and join with our experts in a discussion about children’s and teen books that address different socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities, abilities, ethnicities, and cultures across formats and genres. They will share beautifully illustrated children’s books that embrace a wide spectrum of children and families of different colors, cultures, abilities, and nationalities. Help us celebrate literary works that can be both mirrors and windows for all young people.
