General Information

Mission

The mission of the Nebraska State Reading Association is to lead in the promotion of literacy in the state of Nebraska through collaboration, advocacy, and professional development.

2008-2009 Goals

Build Bridges across the different audiences:individuals, parents, local councils, scool districts, colleges/universities, other professional organizations, businesses, state government and IRA.

Strategies:

A. Build bridges through increasing communication
B. Build bridges through increasing opportunities for involvement

Tasks/Action Steps:

1. Continue to enhance and update the website
2. Restructure and enhance the organization of the committee structure
3. Organize practices, procedures and expectations across councils and within the state
4. Increase membership with challenges to each council to grow at least 10%

International Reading Association

The Nebraska State Reading Association is a state affliate of the International Reading Association, a worldwide organization with over 96,000 members.
