Welcome to the Nebraska State Reading Association! We are a non-profit, all volunteer organization. Our mission is to lead in the promotion of literacy in the state of Nebraska through collaboration, advocacy and professional development. We work to accomplish our mission by sharing current research and best practices through communication, networking, workshops, publications and our yearly conference.
This year our conference will be held on Thursday, February 22nd through Saturday February 24th. Some of the featured speakers for this year’s conference include Douglas Fisher, Ralph Fletcher and Nell Duke. The conference not only provides high quality professional development for educators, it is also a wonderful way to connect with other individuals who believe strongly in a vision of making a difference in the lives of children, youth and adults through the development of literacy.
Our association is organized into councils, which encompass different areas of the state. When you join the state organization you automatically become a member of one of those councils. These councils are responsible for providing professional development that promotes making literacy connections with other curriculum areas and other literacy organizations. They accomplish this through programs and activities throughout the year. The state organization supports these councils through sponsorships and guidance.
The Nebraska State Reading Association also honors, celebrates and awards community organizations and individuals advocate for literacy. We certainly hope that you visit our website to get an understanding of who we are, see what we have to offer and then decide to become a member. In doing so you will be actively demonstrating your own mission to promote literacy.
Promoting success through literacy,
